The Schmeeckle Reserve campus, while reflecting their purpose and place, is inspired by the forests of north central Wisconsin, and their purpose of enabling discovery, respite, and stewardship.

Elements common to each structure are heavy timber (glued-laminated members), steel connections, native stone, wood shingles, wood siding, and simple, pitched roof forms that express purpose. Simple forms recall the rich CCC legacy of the area. Structures are arranged to limit impact on the land.

Shelter
The multi-purpose facility greets visitors arriving by vehicle or the Green Circle Trail, and sets the stage for the architecture.

Restroom
Ideally located to serve visitors arriving by vehicle or Green Circle Trail, and the shelter and amphitheater.

Amphitheater
The roof form manipulates the simple gable form of the shelter, warping the roof planes, and splaying the floor plan to optimize sound.

Visitor Center
The flagship structure which will provide flexible, multi-use indoor/outdoor classrooms, exhibits, nature-based retail, offices, and trailhead support space.
